Description

The method for determination of the concentrations of formic acid and acetic acid in reprocessing process solution by ionic chromatography (IC) has been established. The best working conditions of IC were selected. The resolution (R) of formic acid and acetic acid was better than l.5 under the selected conditions. The effects of plutonium, nitric acid, N, N-dimethylhydroxylamine (DMHAN), methylhydrazine (MMH) and their degradation products on the determination of formic acid and acetic acid were studied. It showed a good linearity in range of l.0∼50 mg/L for both formic acid and acetic acid, and the detection limit were 0.10 mg/L and 0.15 mg/L respectively. The precisions (RSD) of this method were better than 6.5% for formic acid and 7.0% for acetic acid, and the recovery were 95%∼110% and 94%∼110% respectively. This method was applied in determination of process experiment solutions. (authors)
