Allelic inclusion in a pre-B-cell line that generates immunoglobulin heavy chain genes in vitro

  • 1. Univ. of California, San Francisco

Description

In a pre-B-cell line that rearranges its heavy chain gene segments in vitro, the authors found that the rate of productive rearrangement on one allele was not influenced by the presence of heavy chain protein encoded by the other allele. This shows that allelic exclusion of heavy chain genes is not regulated at the genetic level. Cells were labelled with [35S]methionine. RNA was probed with a [32P]cDNA probe
