Description
This paper reports on an experimental study on uranium peroxide precipitation that has been carried out with the objective to evaluate the influence of the main process parameters in a pilot scale operation. The process variables evaluated were: initial pH of uraniferous solution, amount of hydrogen peroxide, and seeding. The response variables were: Efficiency of uranium precipitation, incorporation of impurities and uranium concentration in uranium peroxide, consumption of reagents and settling and filtration characteristics of the precipitation pulps. Selected process conditions determined in the experimental study, provided precipitation efficiencies over 99.9% and uranium peroxide containing uranium grades around 79% U3O8 with low concentration contaminants
