Studying the neutron fields on the surface of a massive lead target, irradiated with 1.5 and 5 GeV protons

Description
Spatial and energy characteristics of the neutron fields on the surface of a massive lead target under its irradiation with 1.5 and 5 GeV protons are investigated. The distributions of the fission rates for the threshold nuclides 232Th and 209Bi on the side surface of the target in two directions are obtained too. The 235U, 234U, 236U, 237Np and 238U fission rates, their spectral indices and cadmium ratio for 235U are measured also on the target side surface. The experimental values are compared with the results of Monte Carlo simulation

Исследовались пространственно-энергетические характеристики нейтронных полей на поверхности массивной свинцовой мишени при ее облучении 1.5 и 5 ГэВ протонами. Получено распределение скоростей деления пороговых нуклидов 232Th и 209Bi по боковой поверхности мишени в двух направлениях. На поверхности мишени были также измерены скорости деления 235U, 234U, 236U, 237Np и 238U, соответствующие им спектральные индексы и кадмиевое отношение для 235U.
