Peculiarities of kinetics of radiation graft polymerization of acrylic acid from gaseous phase on kaolin
Description
Investigated are the main kinetics peculiarities of radiation graft polymerization of acrylic acid on kaolin depending on various reaction conditions (temperature, monomer vapour pressure, adsorbed monomer concentration, dose rate). Polymerization rate dependence on the dose rate has an unusual character: both the initial rate and the rate of polimerization in the graft layer of polyacrylic acid are proportional to the first degree of the dose rate. Supposition is made that the peculiarity observed is connected with unusually dense structure of graft polyacrylic acid. After disintegration of the polymer graft layer by treatment with ammonia or by ammonia and hydrochloride successively the graft polymerization rate becomes proportional to square root from dose rate, which is characteristic for radiation graft polymerization from a gaseous phase
