Problems of transportation of nuclear waste
Description
The transportation of radioactive waste in the United States is discussed with respect to volume of spent fuel shipments, safety of spent fuel casks and the consequences of a major accident involving spent fuel casks. It is concluded that the Federal Regulatory Scheme is inadequate and the assurances of cask safety are based on inadequate standards, tests and regulatory postures. (UK)
