Development and evaluation of SiPM based detector for positron emission mammography

Description
We have developed a detector module based on Silicon Photomultiplier (SiPM) and LYS0 for Positron Emission Mammography (PEM) imaging. The module consists of a 28 × 28 array of 1.9 × 1.9 × 15 mm3 (pitch 2 mm) LYSO elements. The scintillation array is optically coupled to an 8 × 8 single channel SiPM array through a light guide. The module's signals were read out using analog circuit, timing circuit and then processed by the high speed data acquisition system. The results of performance test are presented. The detector module has a position resolution of 1.9 mm; has an average energy resolution of 12.7%; has a coincidence timing resolution of 2.66 ns. The results show that the detector module has good resolutions performance, which could meet the needs of PEM imaging. (authors)
