Description

This series of lectures explain the underlying relation between the macroscopic motion of vortices and dynamics properties of elementary excitations inherent to vortices in the type-II superconductors. In part 6, we overview the motion of quantum vortex in superconductors. We explain that only the sum of the hydrodynamic force and magnetic force is physically meaningful as the driving force on vortex. We also discuss electric field around the moving vortex in superconductors. Electric field consists of two parts: longitudinal field generated by dipolar type charge distribution and transverse field generated by 'drift motion' of circular symmetric distribution of magnetic field around the quantum vortex.
