Description

Novel blue-emitting Eu2+ and Ce3+ activated Zn0.865Mg0.730Al10.270O17 phosphors, has been synthesized by combustion methods at 550 °C. The excitation spectrum shows broad-band extending from 230–400 nm, and the emission spectrum were observed at 446 nm and 431 nm, keeping excitation wavelength constant at 329 nm. XRD analysis shows the phase purity of the phosphors. Correlation in excitation bands of Eu2+ and Ce3+ were studied by Gaussian curve fitting. These characteristics makes Zn0.865Mg0.730Al10.270O17:Eu2+,Ce3+ should be a promising blue-emitting phosphors for the production of white light in phosphor conversion white LEDs. - Highlights: ► Novel blue emission in Eu2+ and Ce3+ activated Zn0.865Mg0.730Al10.270O17 phosphor. ► The emission observed at 446 nm, 431 nm under broad-band excitation centered at 329 nm. ► The stokes shift ΔS is observed at around 7128 cm−1. ► Correlation in excitation bands of Eu2+ and Ce3+ studied by curve fitting.
