Medium active waste from reprocessing plant (immobilization of simulated filtrate fraction)
Description
Proper chemical treatment, of medium active waste from reprocessing plant, separates the waste solution to a small relatively high radioactive precipitate fraction and a larger relatively low radioactive filtrate. The present study is a trial to evaluate the final waste forms resulting form incorporating the filtrate evaporate fraction into poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA). Samples containing more than 40 wt.% of waste and those receiving doses higher than 5 x 107 rads show remarkable increase in the cumulative leach rate. No significant effect was observed using different leaching solutions.7 fig,4 tab
