Rapid method for determination of deuterium content on fast neutrons with short-lived fluorine-17 separation
Creators
Description
The amount of deuterium in water was determined by irradiation of the samples in a fast neutrons flux and isolation of the radioactive isotope 17F by isotopic exchange with the insoluble CaF2 precipitate, whose activity was then measured using the coincidence method. The conditions of optimum isolation of the short-lived 17F are reported, considering its half-life is shorter than the time necessary for the complex exchange
