Description
Gas insulated switchgear (GIS) is one of the key components of power transmission and distribution (T&D) systems for providing stable electrical power. Even in the event of a disaster such as an earthquake, the electrical power system should maintain its structural safety without losing its inherent function. In this study, seismic performance evaluation for 72.5 kV high voltage GIS was conducted using the shaking table test according to the IEEE Std. 693-2005. The typical 1 bay among of whole 6 bays of GIS was selected for this test due to the size limitation of the shaking table. As test results, the maximum stress was less than the allowable stress and it was evaluated to satisfy the criteria defined in the IEEE standard. In the future, these test results will be used to validate the accuracy of an FE analysis model through correlation method, and then the performance of the whole GIS of substation will be evaluated throughout the analysis.
