Polarized plasma instabilities
Description
A plasma with coherently polarized nuclear spins can be subject to instabilities driven by the related polarization of the fusion products. These instabilities can induce a relatively high rate of spin depolarization and since they have rather weak growth rates, their theory is strongly influenced by the plasma spatial inhomogeneities. As a consequence of this the depolarization of tritium nuclei is favored in a deuterium-tritium plasma
