Study of the parietal velocity gradient and convection for a pulsed flow around a cylinder
Description
Periodic pulsed flows induce, in some cases, non-negligible increases in the average heat transfer; as they relate to the performance of industrial heat exchangers, it seemed useful to research which hydrodynamic phenomena could be at the origin of these transfer increases. An electrochemical method based on the diffusional properties of certain chemical compounds in solution, has proven to be particularly suitable for the local and instantaneous study of parietal velocity gradients and parietal transfer. It is applied to analyze the effect of velocity pulsations on the flow around cylinders, and the resulting changes in transfer
Abstract (French)
Il est apparu au cours des dernieres annees que les ecoulements instationnaires de fluides intervenaient dans des domaines nombreux et tres divers. C'est pourquoi de nombreux chercheurs se sont penches sur l'etude de tels ecoulements. Les ecoulements pulses periodiques ont en particulier retenu l'attention, car ils induisent, dans certains cas, des accroissements non negligeables du transfert thermique moyen, comme cela a ete montre au laboratoire. Les resultats obtenus sont interessants, puisqu'ils concernent en fait le rendement des echangeurs thermiques industriels. Il nous a semble utile de poursuivre les travaux dans cette voie, et de rechercher quels phenomenes hydrodynamiques pouvaient etre a l'origine de ces augmentations de transfert. Une methode electrochimique fondee sur les proprietes diffusionnelles de certains composes chimiques en solution a deja ete utilisee au laboratoire. Elle s'est revelee particulierement adaptee a l'etude locale et instantanee des gradients parietaux de vitesse et du transfert parietal. Nous l'avons employee pour analyser l'effet des pulsations de vitesse sur l'ecoulement autour de cylindres, et les modifications de transfert qui en resultent. (auteur)Files
