Spin resolved 2 dimensional momentum microscopy. Principle, application, challenges and prospect

  • 1. Osaka University, Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research (ISIR), Ibaraki, Osaka (Japan)

Description

In order to study electronic structures of solids including the spin information, the spin resolved 2 dimensional (2D) momentum microscopy (MM) has been developed very recently and now applicable to various materials. The principle of the 2D-MM is briefly explained and then the 2D mirror type spin-filter is explained. Very high detection efficiency of the SP-2D-MM facilitates the detection of the spin polarization P(EB(kx,ky)) with the spatial resolution down to tens nm with high momentum and energy resolutions. Present status as well as the future prospect are briefly discussed. (author)
