On beam-foil excitation enhancements observed with tilted foils
Description
Beam-foil excitations have been studied by use of Mg projectiles in the energy range 100-900 keV, at the 600 kV heavy ion accelerator in Aarhus. Photons emitted immediately after the foils were observed for transitions in MgI-MgIV with foils placed perpendicular to the beam axis as well as with foils tilted 300 and 450. Photon intensities depend remarkably much on the tilt angle. This is readily understandable from the model for beam-foil excitations proposed recently by the authors, and it gives a direct confirmation of the model. (Auth.)
