Inclusive production of the Ksub(s)sup(0) Λ, Ksup(s)sup(0)anti Λ and Λ antiΛ pairs in Ksup(+)p interactions at 32 GeV/C

Experimental data are presented on inclusive production of strange particles in the reactions K+p → Ksub(s)sup(0)+Λ+X, K+p → K*+(890)+Λ+x (4), K+p → Ksub.(s)sup(0)+ anti Λ+X, K+p → Ksup(0)+Σ*sup(+) (1385)+X (5), and K+p → Λ+anti Λ+X, K+p → Ksup(0)+Σ*sup(-) (1385)+X (6) at 32 GeV/c. Analysis of the main reaction mechanisms and of contribution from different resonances has been performed; the data are compared with the Lund quark-fragmentation model. Baryon production in the (1), (4)-(6) reactions proceeds mainly at proton fragmentation; total inclusive cross sections of these reactions and inclusive spectra of the particles are well described by the Lunds quark-fragmentation model. Fragmentation of the kaon valent anti s-quark is the main mechanism responsible for anti Λ-hyperon production in the (2) and (3) reactions. The Lunds model describes the forms of inclusive particle spectra in the (2) and (3) reactions only qualitatively, particularly, essentially overestimating the anti Λ cross section in the (3) reaction for the range of proton fragmentation; the model predicts a correct value for total, cross section of the (2) reaction but it twice over estimates that of the (3) reaction
