Type testing of the NRPB/AERE film badge dosemeter in terms of the new ICRU secondary quantities

  • 1. National Radiological Protection Board, Glasgow (UK). Scottish Centre
  • 2. National Radiological Protection Board, Chilton (UK)

Description

The film badge dosemeter was designed to measure the dose equivalent from ionising radiations at or near the body surface. Dose assessment is by methods given in NRPB report R103 and the associated information sheet. In the NRPB 'Guidance on Standards' document GS5 interim recommendations were made concerning the use of these measurement methods to derive estimates of Hp (10) and Hs (0.07). The authors report the results of a full type test of the combined emulsions range of the dosemeter for photon radiations in terms of the ICRU calibration quantities directional dose equivalent at 10 mm, H' (10), and at 0.07 mm, H' (0.07).
