Differential scanning calorimetry studies of low density polyethylene radiation grafted with hydrophobic polymers
Creators
- 1. Isotope Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
The radiation grafted copolymers of LDPE grafted with two different hydrophobic polymers, styrene and methylmethacrylate (MMA) synthesized by mutual irradiation method have been characterized using DSC. The onset of oxidative degradation of MMA and styrene grafted samples takes place at temperatures 186 degC and 188 degC but the rate of oxidation is much slower and final degradation temperatures are as high as 277 degC and 317 degC for them respectively.
