Gaz Metropolitain is the major natural gas distributor in Quebec and one of the five largest natural gas distributors in Canada with sales volumes reaching $1.3 billion per year. The company serves approximately 160,000 customers in Quebec through its huge 8,493 km long gas grid. The company also serves nearly 30,000 customers in Vermont through its wholly owned subsidiary Vermont Gas Systems. The company also holds 50 per cent of the TransQuebec and Maritimes Pipeline Inc., a huge network of gas pipelines in Quebec.
