Non-tomographic three-dimensional imaging with a rotating camera tomograph

Description

The advent of tomographic systems which utilize a rotating scintillation camera and computer systems with high quality movie-made displays permits the easy implementation of a previously described technique called rotational cinescintiphotography (RCSP). A series of images are obtained at equal angles around the circumference of the body and displayed as an endless-loop movie giving the appearance that the organ is rotating before the observer on the display screen. The resulting display has a strong three-dimensional quality and is useful for studying many clinical problems, defining the best viewing angle for imaging certain structures, and in establishing the best angular range over which to acquire tomographic data.
