Description

UP2 and UP3 reprocessing plants at La Hague are part of the French reprocessing-recycling integrated concept; with their nominal capacities of 800 t/y each, they allow for the fuel reprocessing of 100 reactors and any types of oxide-based fuel. The various operations are described: transport and interim storage of irradiated fuels, extraction, purification (PUREX process) and conditioning of recyclable materials, conditioning and storage of ultimate wastes. Reprocessing volume data are given and quality and environmental issues are briefly discussed
