On macro- and microscopic aspects of low-cycle titanium fracture under different frequencies of loading

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev. Inst. Problem Prochnosti

Description

An attempt is made to established the connection between macro- and micromechainisms of the failure for technically pure VT1-0 titanium during quasistatic and fatigue types of failure. Simultaneous accumulation of both quasistatic and fatique damages is shown to occur during low-cycle titanium deformation within the whole range of the durability. A physical model is suggested permitting the cyclic durability increase at frequency variation from 0.03- to 0.3 Hz to be related to an increase of the stacking fault energy
