Complete electron rubidium collision experiments

Description

Full text: To completely describe S→P electron impact excitation for rubidium, four complex scattering amplitudes are needed. The amplitudes and phases are determined by obtaining information on the state of the atom and the electron following the collision. Equivalently, the time reversed superelastic scattering experiment can be performed in which the atomic state is prepared by single mode laser radiation of known polarisation. The complimentary STU experiment yields information about the polarisation of the electrons following the collision. We well report on the current status of the spin
