Spectrophotometric method for the determination of yttrium(III) and its application to the analysis of the superconductor, YBa2Cu3Oy

  • 1. Analytical Chemistry Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

A spectrophotometric procedure for the determination of yttrium(III) using Arsenazo-I is described (λmax = 570 nm). The calibration curve is linear in the concentration range of 0-4x10-6 M (0-356 ngml-1). The lowest amount of yttrium(III) that can be determined is 22 ngml-1. The procedure has been applied for the determination of yttrium(III) in the superconductor, YBa2Cu3Oy (y = 6.5-6.9), with good results. (author)
