The article discusses the targets to be set for nuclear technology and development in Germany in terms of safety criteria to be defined for advanced reactor types. One main aspect of engineered reactor safety is to find realistic strategies and means to prevent the possibility of occurrence of reactor accidents with serious effects on the surrounding environment to a level approaching zero. Der Beitrag befasst sich mit der Frage, welche Anforderungen ein Land wie die Bundesrepublik Deutschland an eine sicherheitsorientierte Weiterentwicklung der Reaktortechnik stellen sollte. Insbesondere untersucht er realisierbare Wege, die Moeglichkeit eines Reaktorunfalls mit erheblichen Folgen ausserhalb der Anlage praktisch zu eliminieren. (orig./HP)
