Formation kinetics of the Ruddlesden-Popper phases. Communication III. Mechanism of Gd2SrAl2O7 formation

Description
Kinetics of phase formation in the system Gd2O3-SrO-Al2O3 was studied by the method of isothermal annealing-quenching in the temperature range of 900-1530 deg C, involving X-ray phase analysis and electronic microscopy. It was ascertained that synthesis of Gd2SrAl2O7 occurs according to a mechanism different from the mechanism of formation of Ln2SrAl2O7 oxides (Ln = La, Nd, Sm), as the intermediate oxide GdAlO3 proved unstable at the synthesis temperature. Interaction between Gd2O3 and SrAl2O4 is the limiting stage of the synthesis

Методом изотермического отжига-закалки в интервале температур 900-1530 град С с привлечением рентгенофазового анализа и электронной микроскопии изучена кинетика фазообразования в системе Gd2O3-SrO-Al2O3. Установлено, что синтез Gd2SrAl2O7 протекает по механизму, отличному от механизма формирования оксидов Ln2SrAl2O7 (Ln = La, Nd, Sm) вследствие того, что промежуточный оксид GdAlO3 при температуре синтеза неустойчив.
