Use of deterministic loss-of-coolant accident safety analyses to enhance safety margin in the Temelin NPP
- 1. Westinghouse Electric Corp., (United States)
Description
The aspects of plant deterministic analyses and probabilistic analyses are discussed from the point of view of plant design. Probabilistic analyses can establish which areas of the plant design need to be enhanced, while the deterministic analyses can be used to determine the specific design changes within an area which will enhance the margin to the safety limits. Examples are discussed of the use of deterministic safety analyses to assess the effect of potential changes on the safety margin. Deterministic analyses of LOCA are discussed for variations in the NPP Temelin fuel design. (J.B.)
