Description
The renewed interest in crystalline silicotitanate (CST) following the 2022 commencement of the Tank Side Cesium Removal (TSCR) unit for removal of Cs from Hanford waste has necessitated an investigation of select analyte load behavior on the media. The inorganic ion exchanger has been shown to remove Group II metals in conjunction with Cs from high-sodium caustic solutions. However, limited data is available on the load behavior of minor and trace elements with recent CST production lots, especially in regard to tank waste processing. This work combined batch contact experiments from simulants and Cs-decontaminated tank waste with small-scale TSCR column processing with wastes from Hanford tanks AP-105, AP-107, and AW-102 to investigate select analyte load behavior onto CST.
