Stable isotopes-some comments on new fields of application

  • 1. Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology, Warsaw (Poland)

Description

The chemistry of isotopes experienced during the 90s a true revival. Firstly, in response to the discovery of new experimentally confirmed phenomena new theoretical concepts were proposed, enabling a more efficient approach to the separation set-up design. Secondly, substances of altered isotopic composition found new practical applications, such as medicine, environment protection as well as the areas of science and industry relating directly to the improvement of quality of human life. New analytical possibilities enable more accurate determination of isotopic composition in environmental and biological samples. With a modern equipment the sample preparation is sample and fast, that allows analysis of many samples in a short time
