Zero-point oscillations and the nuclear charge density

Description

The effect of ground state correlations on the density distributions of nuclei is discussed. The connection with correlation effects on other one-body properties is stressed. The occupation probability for a single-particle state in the correlated ground state is estimated in a semiclassical approximation. The theoretical predictions are compared with empirical charge densities obtained by electron scattering. (orig.)
