Overview of lessons from more than a decade of feeder life management

  • 1. AMEC NSS Power and Process Americas, Toronto, Ontario (Canada)
  • 2. CANDU Energy Inc., Mississauga, Ontario (Canada)

Description

This paper provides an overview of the degradation in CANDU feeders in operating plants observed from mid 1990s onward, the industry's response to the discovery of this degradation, and the methodologies, tools and technology developed to monitor the degradation and assess the continued fitness for service to manage the plant life. The lessons gained from more than a decade of industry effort, and how these are being implemented in the refurbished and new CANDU plants, are discussed. (author)
