Interaction of halophilic microorganisms with radionuclides
Description
The thesis was focused on the investigation of interactions between halophilic microorganisms with uranium using fluorescence microscopy, electron microscopy, EDX analysis, ATR-FTIR, TRFLS and XAS. The interaction depends on the microorganism; it is therefore necessary to identify the microorganism for specific final repository sites to derive metabolic pathways and the respective thermodynamic parameters that might influence the long-term safety.
