Description

To understand the role of plutonium in nuclear weapons some knowledge of their design is desirable. A brief description of nuclear weapons is given. These include pure fission bombs, boosted fission weapons and thermonuclear weapons. The supply of plutonium from nuclear-power reactors via reprocessing and the use of enriched uranium in nuclear weapons is explained. (author)
