Concepts of microdosimetry. Pt. 3
Description
This is the last part of an investigation of microdosimetric concepts relevant to numerical calculations. A formula is derived which permits the computation of the dose average lineal energy or the corresponding average of the specific energy without the need to determine the probability distributions. A detailed treatment is given for two cases of practical importance. The first case corresponds to spherical sites with diameters of the order of 1 μm and to neutrons up to 15 MeV. The second case corresponds to microscopic sites which are small enough that the change of the stopping power of charge particles traversing the site can be neglected. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die vorliegende Arbeit ist der letzte Teil einer Untersuchung mikrodosimetrischer Konzepte fuer numerische Berechnungen. Es wird eine Formel aufgestellt, mit der die lineale Energie im Dosismittel oder die Wahrscheinlichkeitsverteilung bestimmt werden muessen. Zwei fuer die Praxis wichtige Faelle werden im Detail behandelt. Im ersten Fall geht es um kugelfoermige Stellen in der Groessenordnung von 1 μm und um Neutronen bis zu 15 MeV. Der zweite Fall behandelt mikroskopische Stellen, die klein genug sind, um die Veraenderung des Bremsvermoegens geladener Teilchen beim Passieren der Stelle vernachlaessigbar zu machen.
