Electric power storage device

Description

The device of the present invention effectively stores electric power such as surplus electric power during nights by utilizing an existent power plant. That is, the device of the present invention comprises (1) an electrolyzing and power generation means having a solid oxide electrolyte and acting both as a steam electrolyzing cell and a fuel cell, (2) a means for storing each of hydrogen and oxygen generated or consumed in the means (1). The device is disposed in adjacent with a power plant, and steams heated by the heat of the power plant are electrolyzed by the electric power of the power plant, to generate hydrogen and oxygen. They are stored in the means (2). Electric power is taken out again by using hydrogen and oxygen in the means (1), if necessary, and sent to the power plant. Moreover, if steams are generated by exhausted heat of the fuel cell generated upon power generation in the means (1) and a steam turbine is operated to generate electric power, power generation efficiency is improved.
