Raman and luminescence spectroscopy of zirconium oxide with the use of the MOLE microprobe

  • 1. EGandG Idaho, Inc., Idaho Falls, ID

Description

Raman and luminescence spectroscopy with the use of the MOLE microprobe has been used to characterize ZrO2 originating from oxidized fuel-rod cladding in nuclear accidents. The spectra provide information about temperatures, hydrogen production, and eutectic formation inside nuclear reactor cores during accident conditions
