Energy Efficiency instead of CO2 levy
Creators
Description
This article takes a look at ways of avoiding a future, planned Swiss CO2 levy by improving the efficiency of energy use. The political situation concerning the reduction of CO2 emissions in Switzerland is reviewed and the likeliness of the introduction of a CO2 levy is discussed. Strategies for the reduction of fossil fuel consumption and therefore of CO2 emissions are looked at, including process optimisation. Recommendations are made on how to approach this work systematically - data collection, assessment of the potential for reduction and the planning of measures to be taken are looked at. The high economic efficiency of immediate action is stressed and typical middle and long-term measures are listed
