Characterization of europium(III) carbonate complexes in simulated groundwater by solvent extraction
Description
The objective of the paper is to characterize the bicarbonate-carbonate complexes of Eu(III) under simulated groundwater conditions and to determine their stability constants, which may in turn be applied to Am(III). For this purpose, a synergistic extraction system with 1-nitroso-2-naphthol and 1,10-phenanthroline was developed. Detailes of the method and its application to calculate the stability constants are given. It is concluded that the carbonate complexes of Eu(III) are highly stable.
