Differential cross sections of elastic scattering of keV neutrons by nuclei with odd A
Description
An expression for the average differential cross section of the elastic neutron - nucleus scattering is obtained in the non-overlapping resonance approximation with account of spins and for various correlations between the widths in the mixed p1/2 and p3/2 channels. The cross sections are measured for nine nuclei with odd A from 63 up to 123 at the neutron energies up to ∼ 300 keV. The neutron strength functions and the scattering radii are determined for s and p neutrons. It is concluded that all the parameters are independent of the target spin. For some nuclei investigated here the authors obtained indications to certain versions of the channel correlation, which are more preferable than others
