Description

Dibarium lithium pentaborate, LiBa2B5O10, Mr = 495.67, monoclinic, P21/m, α = 4.431 (2), b = 14.585 (9), c = 6.700 (4) A, β = 104.30 (4)0, V = 417.9 (7) A3, Z = 2, Dm = 3.90 (by specific gravity bottle in toluene), D=x = 3.94 g cm-3, λ(Mo Kα) = 0.71069 A, μ = 94.1 cm-1, F(000) = 440, T = 296 K. Full-matrix least-squares refinement gave a final R of 0.018 and wR of 0.022, for 1015 [I ≥ 8σ(I)] observed reflections. The structure contains a new type of [B5O10]-5 moiety composed of three BO3 triangles and two BO4 tetrahedra. (orig.)
