X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy for radionuclide speciation studies

Description
Studies combining parallel time differential perturbed angular correlation, extended X-ray absorption fine structure and grazing incidence X-ray absorption fine structure (TDPAC, EXAFS and GIXAFS, respectively) experiments on Hf(IV) sorbed onto silica as a function of pH have been performed and results from these studies are presented. From these investigations, the sorbed Hf(IV) species is characterised. The combination of these techniques helps to overcome the limited sensitivity of the standard EXAFS method. (author)
