Dissecting wind farms costs
Creators
Description
When discussing the cost or price of energy from wind farms, it is necessary to keep in mind that there is no such thing as a typical wind farm. Numbers of machines, machine types and geographical locations all vary. Each of these factors, as well as others, affects the total price of the installation. What is more, identical wind farms in different countries would almost certainly have unlike costs due to the differing local requirements for, among other things, environmental assessment studies and planning requirements. Also, any analysis of wind prices is like chasing a moving target since prices are moving steadily downward all the time. (au)
