Evidence for the existence of a massive companion to X Persei (=2U 0352+30.)

Description
Radial-velocity measurements of X Persei of spectra obtained from 1920 to 1974 reveal a probable periodicity of about 584 days. The broad Balmer absorption lines and the emission peaks move in antiphase and suggest the existence of a companion of mass at least 30 M0.
