Network of environmental monitoring of radiation protection at the research location Rossendorf

A modern monitoring system of radiation protection in the facilities and environment of the Nuclear Engineering and Analytics Inc. (VKTA) and the Research Centre Rossendorf (FZR) had been planed and realized in the period from 1991 to 1994. It consists on equipment for monitoring the emissions and the environment as well as meteorological parameters. There for a Radiation Protection Central Station was installed. The Central Station allows a survey of the current radiation situation a permanent control of the usual function of all monitoring components as well as a correlation between different measured values. At present important components of the measurement- and computer technique will replaced. The exchange of worn-out hardware of the Central Station and the installation of new software is the essentially part. Also the dismantlement of the old nuclear facilities of the VKTA and at the same time new built or extended research facilities at the FZR site will consider. The VKTA and the FZR have agreed with, the common environmental monitoring net to use in future. Like this the integration of the sewage measurement system is planed. About the experiences of the eighty-yearly work of this measuring system and the concept to the replacement of the essentially components will report. (orig.)
