Total economical production and employment effect of the construction of power plants in comparison to power import

In energy politics and energy economy the pros and cons of greater imports of electricity from France have been the subject of much discussion recently. In addition to other aspects, a significant role in this debate is played by the question of how power imports can be evaluated from an economic standpoint as alternative to the construction and operation of power plants. As a contribution to this topic the authors estimate and elucidate the entire gross production and employment effect of the construction and operation of a power plant and the import of electricity.
