Description

The study on the influence of radiation by electron beam (10 MeV) on bacteria and parasites content in sewage sludge has been carried out in the Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology. The municipal wastes taken from the Otwock near Warsaw sewage treatment plant have been irradiated at dose of 5 kGy. It was found that the bacteria content has been diminished about 1-2 orders of magnitude and there was not any porosity alive. Sediments and sludges by radiation hygienized can be applied in agriculture as fertilizers. 2 figs, 4 tabs
