Operation of the motors and capacitors in separate network at Eurodif plant

Description
The very high MVA installed capacity of the motors, capacitors and cables at the uranium enrichment plant at Tricastin required extensive investigations and experiments to avoid accidental phenomena of self-excitation that might cause overvoltages dangerous to equipment. An order of magnitude of the results from computation and from tests is given and the significance of taking into account, in calculations, the phenomena of saturation of the transformers is emphasized

L'importance de la puissance installee en moteurs, condensateurs et cables a l'usine d'enrichissement de l'uranium du Tricastin a necessite des etudes et experimentations approfondies pour eviter les phenomenes accidentels d'auto-excitation pouvant entrainer des surtensions dangereuses pour les materiels.
