Description

A pulse supply system (PPS) for a neutron focusing device (NFD) designed for shaping single-polar current pulses with a 500 kA amplitude and 150 μs duration in three NFD lenses, is described. The PSS consists of: 1) three independent identical pulsed current generators (PCG), each consisting of 4 capacitance energy storage modules where parallel switching-in of the modules is performed by small-sized ignitrons; 2) an operation and control system triggered by synchronous pulse, and 3) power, water and air supply systems. The block-diagrams of the PCG, operation and control units and the main characteristics of the system are presented. The system has experienced more than 5x105 switchings-in at 350-450 kA currents in the NFD lenses
