Dual isotope subtraction platelet scintigraphy in the diagnosis of left ventricular thrombosis
Creators
Description
The relatively long half life of circulating In-111 labelled platelets not incorporated in thrombi give rise to a blood pool activity masquerading platelet sequestration in intracardiac thrombi. Moreover they might interfere in the quantitation of platelet sequestration in the hearth. To overcome these drawbacks of platelet imaging techniques have been developed to substract the blood pool activity of circulating non-thrombus bound platelets from sequestrated platelets. In this contribution the so called dual isotope subtraction technique in the diagnosis of left ventricular thrombosis is reviewed. (H.W.). 4 refs.; 2 figs
